Sara E. Ancello, DO

Dr. Sara Ancello, DO, FACOI, DABOM is a Board Certified Physician in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Obesity Medicine Specialist. She specializes in the diagnosis and management of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver, as well as medical weight loss.

She received her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency as Chief Resident at Rowan University. She completed her Fellowship in Gastroenterology in Arizona at Midwestern University, where she led her colleagues as Chief Fellow. During her fellowship, Dr. Ancello spent three months focused on Transplant Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale and Banner University in Phoenix. In 2020 and 2021 Dr. Ancello was honored with the “Teaching Attending of the Year” Award by the Gastroenterology Fellowship. She completed her Obesity Medicine Board Certification in 2021 with a goal to help patients with medical weight loss, especially those with metabolic associated fatty liver disease.

Dr. Ancello has a special interest in the treatment of liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer prevention. She is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Dr. Ancello has numerous journal publications and conference presentations. She has lectured locally, nationally and internationally on Gastrointestinal Diseases, Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Development.
